InHerit final conference and Interpret Europe Annual Conference
Heritage interpretation and professional development of heritage interpreters
Do you work at a natural or cultural heritage site, in a museum, zoo, or a botanical garden? Do you like to encourage people to search for a deeper meaning behind heritage, inspiring them to take ownership as citizens? Heritage interpretation is the key to engaging with your visitors and to connect our common European past and future.
Heritage interpretation is a tried-and-tested way of connecting people and places. At the Interpret Europe conference, organised by Herita, in cooperation with the InHerit team, we want to stimulate thought on how heritage interpretation can help people experience and engage in important European subjects such as sustainability, lifelong learning, human rights, active citizenship and peace.
What you do is essential because you deal with the narratives that shape the future of Europe.
how core European values and goals can be related to heritage sites through a broad range of study visits.
how interpreters connect both visitors and local people to heritage through workshops and presentations.
within earshot of Brussels how your work on heritage can be better valued.
your passion and enthusiasm in contributing to interpretation as an essential task for the future of Europe.
meeting people from all around the world at Mechelen, in the heart of Flanders.
This conference is also the final conference of InHerit, a Grundtvig Multilateral project about professional development of Heritage Interpreters. A number of workshops at the conference will be dedicated to this theme e.g.:
• InHerit workshop on defining competences and the opportunities offered by a competence profile for the professional field of heritage interpretation.
• InHerit workshop on competence oriented training in heritage interpretation.
• Success factors in heritage interpretation
• In-Herit experiences & Heritage Studies/Museology programmes and trainings
• Learning happens everywhere: interpretation as an educational activity.
Join us at our conference on ‘Heritage Interpretation – for the Future of Europe’ in the historic city of Mechelen (Belgium) from 21st to 24th May 2016 and discover why and how heritage interpretation can support you and your work at your own heritage site.
